My Grandad

I do not think I ever realised how far my Grandfather's adventures took him. From South Africa, through all; if not most, of North Africa during the war; while having enrolled in the army a year early too, eager for adventure and to see the world. He said "it seemed like a holiday"!! That same sense of adventure was the driving force of his entire life, paired with the love for his family and friends. That same sense of adventure was somehow imprinted in me too seeing where I am today and I guess I see more of him in me than I previously realised.

He was a force to be reckoned with, still playing tennis until his late 80s - and killing it! The lessons he imparted are still with me to this day, he was stern when he needed to be, Sofia knows all too well why. He was also thorough, as he would not let me leave the table until I had done my times tables, but he was always patient and caring. Those are traits I will carry on in his behalf for the rest of my life.
